Does my daughter really need to train during the off-season?
That depends on what your goal is. If you want to enter the season already well-conditioned, and have an edge on competitors, then it is absolutely worth the time and effort. Training/lessons during the off-season not only keeps the body properly conditioned, but also beats the off-season skill regression, prevents mid-season injury, and increases performance.
How fast should my daughter throw/pitch for her age?
Every athlete is different, no matter how hard they train. While we train to increase PR radar speeds and increase speed averages, my mindset is “power” and “speed” are different. My philosophy defines “power” as strong, mechanically clean pitches that are consistent; speed is just that – the mph of the pitch. New PR speeds are great, but at the end of the day, “power” is what I train for.
